A Youth Dal worker named Zahed Hossain Munna (20) was killed in a fight between BNP-Zubadal leaders at a trade fair in Mirsarai. 5 more people were injured in this incident. The incident took place on Monday (January 13) at around 10:30 pm at Mirsarai town headquarters of the upazila.
The deceased Munna is the son of Abdul Mannan of Govnia village of Ward No. 6 of Mirsarai municipality. Among the injured, the condition of one named Shakeel is critical.
According to sources, on Monday evening at the trade fair at the Mirsarai Stadium, the followers of Mirsarai Municipality BNP Member Secretary Zahid Hussain had a discussion with the followers of Mirsarai Municipality Youth Party convener Kamrul Hasan.
Later, a worker of Kamrul Hasan was injured in an attack by the followers of Zahid Hussain. After coming out of the fair around 10 pm, Kamrul’s followers attacked Zahid Hussain’s house and his followers.
Several people were injured in this incident. Later, the locals rescued him and took him to the Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor in charge declared one of them dead.
Tanmoy Jamshed Alam, doctor of the emergency department of Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex, said that a person named Munna was brought to the hospital in a dead condition. A person named Shakeel was sent to Chittagong Medical Hospital in a serious condition Baki Rahat, Hrdoy and Rashed were taken home after first aid.
Convener of Mirsarai Upazila BNP Shahidul Islam Chowdhury said, such incident is very sad. We have no concern about the fair and had no support. They know very well how the administration allowed the fair. They cannot avoid the fact that this is a corpse.
To know about this, Mirsarai Municipality called BNP member secretary Jahed Hossain several times but could not be contacted by phone.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirsarai Police Station Atiqur Rahman confirmed the truth of the incident and said that there was a dispute between two local parties for a long time, yesterday a young man was killed due to a quarrel. Although the situation is calm now, operations are underway to arrest those involved.
