Classic cheese shop closes for good
The classic cheese packer Ockelbo Ost AB has existed for 24 years and packages many popular cheeses, but will now close again for good.
Their cheeses have been sold both at Ica and Coop and several other large grocery stores. Ostpackeriet has for some time struggled with low profitability and can no longer afford to pay its debts.
Since the pandemic, Ockelbo Ost AB has also had a deferred tax of almost five million kroner, which several other media reported on including The worker’s sheet.

The staff did not receive a salary
The staff have not yet received their latest salary and are now at risk of being completely out of a job.
It is now hoped to be able to find a buyer for the business in order to be able to save the jobs that exist.
– We have sent the county board about the salary guarantee, so it will hopefully reach the employees today (November 6, editor’s note), says the bankruptcy trustee Henric Schef till The worker’s sheet.
Ockelbo Ost AB does not have its own cheese production but collaborates with dairies to produce completely unique flavors and cheeses just for us, they write on their website. In their assortment, they have over 650 different types of cheese in 1,000s of varieties.
But they also have their own unique range, and these cheeses could be affected by the bankruptcy.

The cheeses that could be affected by the bankruptcy
“Ockelbo Ost has a series of unique cheeses according to our own recipes. These are produced in collaboration with Åland’s dairy and DMK. We also have self-made dessert cheeses that we make from cream cheese with our own spice mixes,” they write on their website.
Some of the own unique cheeses that could be affected by the bankruptcy are Ockelbo Black 35 percent, Ockelbo Blue 28 percent, Ockelbo red 28 percent, Åland farm cheese between 28 percent and Chili roll 27 percent.
