Clever and APCOA will supply electricity to thousands of parking spaces

Denmark’s largest charging operator and privately owned parking company are now joining forces to transform many of the country’s parking spaces into charging spaces. The ambition is initially to set up more than 5,000 public charging points by 2028.

The country’s parking companies are facing a major restructuring in the coming years. Now not only parking must be offered, but also relevant and accessible charging infrastructure for electric drivers.

A new collaboration between Clever and APCOA Denmark will now contribute to the country’s electric drivers having easy and convenient access to charging options in thousands of parking spaces.

The first step in the collaboration is a goal to set up Clever charging boxes with more than 5,000 charging points around the country by 2028, which will form part of Denmark’s largest charging network.

“We are experiencing an increasing demand for charging options at our more than 3,000 locations. The need and expectation to be able to charge the car while parking will only grow. This requires a major restructuring of our many parking spaces, so that we can make it even easier and more attractive to park the electric car with us. That is why we are happy that together with Clever we can now accelerate the green transition and provide power to several thousand of our parking spaces as well as expand the number of charging options in Denmark,” says Michael Christensen, CEO of APCOA Denmark.

APCOA Denmark will advise its space owners on the interaction between charging and parking, while Clever will be responsible for installation, service and the daily operation of its charging stations in the parking spaces.

“Parking spaces are an integral part of our infrastructure and play a crucial role in supporting the sustainable mobility of the future. Therefore, a collaboration with APCOA Denmark, which manages more than 3,000 locations across the country, is also completely natural for Clever. Our ambition is to establish more than 5,000 public charging points in APCOA Denmark’s parking lots by 2028, so that we can offer even more charging options exactly where Danes go in their daily lives. For the benefit of Danish electric drivers and the green transformation of transport,” says Casper Kirketerp-Møller, CEO at Clever.

APCOA Denmark already has 120 existing charging points in operation, which Clever’s subscription customers will have the opportunity to charge during the autumn – as if they were Clever’s own.

In the near future, the parking app APCOA FLOW will also be able to be used for ad hoc payment for charging at all Clever’s 8,500 public standard charging points. This brings together parking and charging in one and the same app. The price is set by APCOA based on the current market price.

FACT
  • APCOA’s 120 existing charging points will be visible in Clever’s app, where during the autumn Clever customers can use the charging points exactly like Clever’s own.
  • Clever customers will be able to use Clever’s future charging points at APCOA’s locations in the same way as Clever’s other charging points.

Clever is Denmark’s largest charging operator with more than 39,000 charging points distributed around the city, in the countryside, at the workplace, at the supermarket and along the motorways.
