Croatia weather in summer

In the summer in Croatia, you can count on it being hot and sunny almost every day. Rains are rare.

The typical temperature is around 28 degrees, but in July–August the temperature can easily exceed 30 degrees. When traveling in the summer months, you have to be prepared for the fact that a heat wave will hit you during your vacation and it can be really hot when you arrive at your destination.

If you travel to Croatia in the summer, you should head to the coastal resorts. Inland, the weather can feel very hot.

Make sure that the accommodation has a swimming pool or you can easily go to the beach to swim. Air conditioning is essential in the summer.

Croatia weather in autumn

Autumn is one of the best tourist seasons in Croatia. You can still travel to coastal holiday destinations in September–October.

The sea water is warm after the hot summer, but the temperature is more pleasant in the summer months. The average temperature in September is around 25 degrees, in October a good 20 degrees.

In autumn, you can easily combine both beach days and various activities such as hiking or cycling in the same vacation.

Towards the end of October, the weather starts to cool down and it may rain during the holiday. If the primary purpose of the trip is to enjoy the sun, you should make the trip by September.

Croatia weather in winter

Winter is a quiet and peaceful time in Croatia. In many smaller resorts, hotels close their doors and there are fewer services available.

On the Croatian coast, the weather is getting colder and the rains are becoming more frequent. The temperature can drop to around five degrees in the dead of winter, but frost and snow are rare.

In the inland continental climate, the weather is colder than the coast in winter. The temperature drops to the minus side and there are also snowfalls.

During the winter months, there are no direct flights or package tours from Finland to Croatia. However, by using the exchange connections, you can travel to the country even in winter if you like a cooler climate.

The capital Zagreb is suitable for a city holiday all year round. Among the summer resorts, Dubrovnik doesn’t completely quiet down in winter either: the weather is unstable, but the prices are more affordable and you don’t have to queue for attractions like in the summer months.
