Cold air masses are rushing towards St. Petersburg from the west

Air temperatures in the city and across the region will continue to fall, and wind and sleet are possible.

This week will be a transitional week to the pre-winter season. In St. Petersburg, a gradual cooling is beginning, said the city’s chief weather forecaster, Alexander Kolesov.

He noted that a cold air mass is beginning to enter the region. The air temperature will continue to slowly decrease and tomorrow afternoon it is expected to be from +4 to +2. Rain mixed with sleet and wind are likely.

“Cyclone Quiteria will leave England in our direction, pass through the southern Baltic near Kaliningrad, then go north to Helsinki. The cyclone will flow into the general pressure depression, which is already cold enough for precipitation to fall in the form of snow,” Kolesov noted.

He warned that precipitation would reach St. Petersburg in the first half of the day on November 20, and during the day the atmospheric front would pass through the city. Temperatures in the city will be close to zero degrees.

At the same time, in the Leningrad region, precipitation in the form of snow and sleet will be observed throughout the entire territory, and the temperature will be slightly negative in some places.
