Cold weather throughout the country: sleet and snow in the mountain area, rain in the south and east / Police recommendations
- The police are warning drivers to be cautious as the weather worsens in several regions of the country.
- It is raining in the southern and eastern counties of the country, while sleet and snow are falling in the mountainous areas of Braşov, Covasna and Prahova.
The Infotraffic Center of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police recommends that, in order to have a safe journey, in the conditions where meteorological warnings are issued at the level of the country regarding dangerous phenomena (wind, blizzards), it is important that, before setting off in journey, to inform yourself about the condition of the road on the route you are going to travel.
At 9:30 a.m., precipitation in the form of rain is reported in the southern and eastern counties of the country, and in the mountainous area of Braşov, Covasna and Prahova counties, they are in the form of sleet and snow.
For the safety of traffic participants, drivers must ensure good visibility from the vehicle, by cleaning the windshield, rear window and side windows, drive at a speed adapted to the traffic and road conditions, so that they can perform any maneuver in the conditions of safety, to use the engine brake to reduce speed if driving on a wet or slippery road.
For traveling on road surfaces covered with ice, ice or snow, road legislation stipulates the obligation to equip vehicles with winter tires.
