Cooperation in the field of UAM take-off and landing facility ‘Vertiport’
Korea Airports Corporation is expanding its urban air traffic (UAM) business by joining hands with a European company.
On the 1st, Korea Airports Corporation announced that it signed a business agreement with Urban V, an Italian company specializing in the UAM take-off and landing facility vertiport field, on the 30th of last month for mutual cooperation in the construction and operation of vertiports.
Accordingly, both companies plan to promote UAM commercialization and seek overseas Vertiport business opportunities. The corporation is responsible for sharing domestic Vertiport business information, supporting urban air traffic (UAM) route design, and finding overseas Vertiport business opportunities. Urban V decided to share Italian Vertiport business information and joint venture operation experience and provide consulting support for winning overseas Vertiport business orders.
Lee Jeong-gi, acting president of Korea Airports Corporation, said, “The construction and operation of Vertiport are essential for the introduction of UAM,” and added, “We will work closely with Urban V to advance the commercialization of domestic UAM and strive to lead the global market.”
Carlo Tursi, CEO of Urban V, said, “Through this agreement, we will strive to commercialize Vertiport at Rome Fiumicino Airport and promote global business expansion.”
