Two companies from Arad county, one from the automotive industry and one plastic manufacturer, have notified the authorities of their intention to resort to collective layoffs in the next period, 236 employees being targeted.
The representatives of the County Agency for Employment (AJOFM) Arad have conveyed, at the request of Agerpres, that, so far, 42 employees have received notice.
The cited source specified that employers do not always resort to firing all those concerned, in some situations the reorganizations allow them to keep some of the employees.
“Regarding the number of people actually fired as a result of the notifications, we specify that the number of people communicated by employers in the notification does not always correspond to the number of people actually fired, because, until the procedure is completed, either the employer reorganizes its activity and not all people are laid off, or people whose employment contract ends find a job very quickly (sometimes even during the notice period). There are also situations where the people targeted to be laid off meet the conditions for retirement, so the number to the actually fired people is lower than the announced one”, transmitted AJOFM Arad.
One of the two companies manufactures parts and accessories for the automotive industry, while the other manufactures plastic products.
Since the beginning of this year, there have been notices of collective layoffs in the county. For example, in May, seven companies in the automotive industry sent notices affecting 450 employees. At the time, the management of AJOFM Arad indicated that these redundancies were announced “in the context in which the orders for electric cars were greatly reduced”.
Currently, the unemployment rate in the county is 1.6%, being one of the lowest in the country.
On the other hand, the online job mediation platform, on the ANOFM website, shows that in Arad county, on Monday, 1,066 jobs are available at 165 employers, most of them in the fields of textiles, transport, construction, automotive and trade.
