Collectors in Russia will no longer be interested in some of citizens’ debts

Most likely, fees will increase when applying to courts of general jurisdiction. Among them are fees for filing a claim, for a property claim up to 100 thousand rubles, divorce, appeals and cassation complaints, and others.

Not only companies, but also individuals will pay more. According to the expert, this will complicate access to legal protection for people with low incomes, because such a fee is a serious blow to the budget.

She notes that filing a claim by an individual will cost almost 17 times more: instead of 300, it will cost 5,000 rubles.

“For companies, the fee has increased from 6,000 to 20,000 rubles. This could seriously affect the decision of citizens and organizations to go to court and protect their rights,” she says.

The expert also notes a positive impact. The number of cases of mass appeals to the court without sufficient grounds may decrease. Unscrupulous collectors may also be afraid of the option that they will be left with nothing, but will pay the fee. Most likely, collecting debts of several thousand rubles will become inexpedient. But loans may also become more expensive, which will increase inflation.

Earlier, we wrote that overdue debt on retail loans (except mortgages) in banks has grown by 6.4% since the beginning of 2024. The increase was 1.6 times higher than for the whole of 2023.
