A serious traffic accident involving the collision of two vehicles occurred shortly after 16:30 on the afternoon of Sunday 27/10, on the Lamia – Karpenisiou highway at the intersection with Loutra Ypatis.

According to the testimony of the 64-year-old driver of the agricultural vehicle who was going down from Karpenisi to Lamia together with his 58-year-old wife, from Loutra Ypatis road, he was thrown without checking at the intersection, a white ICHE wanting to turn towards Karpenisi.
As the 64-year-old driver reported to lamiareport.gr: “By a miracle we live! Luckily I wasn’t speeding, while I swerved as far as I could to the left to avoid him I almost went off the road.”

This particular maneuver seems to have prevented the worst, as the collision took place side-on and not in the door of the 88-year-old driver from the white ICHE.
The 88-year-old, however, was injured and transported by EKAV ambulance to the Lamia Hospital.
Likewise, the 58-year-old female passenger of the rural vehicle was also taken to the hospital, while the 64-year-old driver also suffered a slight injury to the hand.

For a while, traffic at the scene was controlled with the assistance of the Lamia Traffic Police who also undertook the preliminary investigation into the causes of the accident.
Men from the Fire Department undertook the cleaning of the roadway so that it could be delivered again without problems to traffic.
