Colors of Ostrava festival starts in Ostrava, dozens of bands will play

Ostrava – The 21st edition of the Colors of Ostrava festival starts today in Ostrava. Until July 20, it will offer music projects from more than three dozen countries. 70 foreign bands and several dozen domestic performers will perform on seven stages. American singer Lenny Kravitz or pop star Sam Smith will be among the main stars.

The legendary American rock group Queens of the Stone Age was originally on the program. A few days ago, due to the singer’s health problems, she canceled the European tour, including the Ostrava stop. Domestic artists also have their place at the festival. For example, Mig 21, Lenny, DYK, Tata Bojs, Aneta Langerová, Bratři Ebenová or Lake Malawi will perform.

For the seventh time, the international Meltingpot discussion forum will take place at Colors of Ostrava. Over 250 speakers from various fields will perform on 11 stages. Leading foreign guests include professor of psychology and behavioral economics Dan Ariely, writer Irvine Welsh and astronaut Meganne Christianová. Among the Czech guests of the Meltingpot, psychiatrist Jiří Horáček, Chief of the General Staff of the Army of the Czech Republic Karel Řehka or physicist Dana Drábová should appear.

Theater performances will take place on three stages during Colors of Ostrava. The expected event will be the production of Marta, the story of singer Marta Kubišová, behind which is the team of screenwriter and producer Daniela Sodomová and director Adély Laštovková Stodolová. Furthermore, visitors can look forward to the humorous production of The Legends by Lunetic from the workshop of the Prague theater NoD or improvisational artists from the Losers Cirque Company.
