Domestic. Ericsson is considering moving its operations from Kista, due to the insecurity for the employees. Other companies have already officially decided to do the same.

Ericsson has been considering moving its headquarters from Kista for some time, according to information from Today’s Industry. The discussions surrounding a possible move are said to have been initiated by CEO Börje Ekholm already last year, and one of the main reasons is the increased insecurity in the area.

According to the trade union Sweden’s Engineers, the staff have expressed concerns about safety, and it happens that employees are escorted to the subway in the evening.

– The staff experience insecurity before and after normal working hours and it can be tricky to attract high-profile competence there. We also had a wave of robberies a few years ago, says Per Norlander, who is group negotiator for Sweden’s Engineers at Ericsson Sweden, to DI.

The real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield has reportedly been tasked with searching for new premises for Ericsson, according to unconfirmed information from the real estate world. Union representatives state, however, that so far there has been no concrete dialogue about a move.

The company Coor has its headquarters near Ericsson’s and has already decided to move its 310 employees to Solna this spring.

– It is an area that we feel has become more unsafe than when we moved in, says Coors CEO AnnaCarin Grandin to DI.
