At the recently held Tourism Fair in Kragujevac, it was announced that the competition for incentives for rural tourism will be announced in January or February 2025. These funds are intended for households, entrepreneurs and legal entities engaged in catering in rural areas, in order to improve the tourist offer and develop their capacities.
A workshop for potential users was held at the fair, led by Ivana Adamov, senior advisor in the Group for the Development of Tourist Destinations. During the workshop, the participants were explained the conditions of the competition, as well as the necessary documentation. It is crucial to provide documentation on time, including a certificate from the cadastre about ownership or co-ownership of the plot or building. Plots and buildings must be part of a categorized tourist household and registered in the e-Tourist system on the date of entry into force of the regulation.
Companies, legal entities and entrepreneurs who provide accommodation services in farms, ethnic houses or rural tourist households can participate in the competition. It also includes natural persons who perform catering activities within rural households. The bearer of the categorization decision must be the owner, co-owner or family member living at the same address.
What does the new competition for rural tourism entail?
Incentive funds of the Ministry of Tourism and Youth can be used for various projects, including the construction, extension, reconstruction, adaptation and maintenance of catering establishments. The funds are also intended for the expansion of accommodation facilities, landscaping of the yard, procurement of furniture, furnishing of catering facilities and purchase of camping equipment.
Beneficiaries are obliged to contribute at least 10% of the total value of the project, while the maximum funding provided by the ministry is 90%. The maximum amount of funds that could be obtained during previous tenders was 2.9 million dinars. The given deadline for the realization of the project lasts 12 months, counting from the day of payment of money. Beneficiaries are obliged to continue their activities for at least three years after the end of the project.
The competition requires original documents or certified copies, and detailed information can be found on the official website of the Ministry of Tourism and Youth. It is expected that the competition will be announced at the beginning of 2025, enabling households and entrepreneurs to improve the tourist offer of their destinations.
