An image of shame as well as a danger to public health are the volumes of garbage located next to crowded beaches in Sithonia Halkidiki and specifically on the Kovi Coast.
At the peak of the tourist season, the ignorance of the citizens but mainly the obstructionism of the local authorities have created an intolerable and dangerous situation for public health as huge “mountains” of garbage and filth accumulate just a few meters away from the beaches overgrown with pine trees.

The combination of extreme temperatures with the unknown and possibly dangerous contents of the garbage lying for hours or even days under the hot sun, could even lead to a possible fire event at a time when the responsible cleaning department of the municipality of Sithonia is not always in the phones.
Citizens have contacted “Jungle” and are reporting everything that is happening on these beaches. They also sent photos.
