Concert Hall: Extension of the exhibition for the Royal Academy of Dance, London

The exhibition at the Athens Concert Hall “50 years – The Royal London Academy of Dance in Greece” has been extended until tomorrow, Saturday, October 26.

In the packed hall of the “Friends of Music” Association at the Athens Concert Hall, on Thursday 17 October 2024, the celebration of the 50 years of cooperation between Greece and the Royal Academy of Dance of London was held with great success, under the auspices of the British Embassy in Athens , the collaboration of the British Council and with the organizational responsibility of choreographer and dance teacher Maya Sofou, who with vision and pioneering applied the English ballet education system of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in her school and made it known in our country.

At the anniversary event, speeches were made by the British Ambassador in Athens, Mr. Matthew Lodge and the Director of the Academy, Tim Arthur, while the presenters of the event were Alexis Costalas and Anna Grimani.

The Royal Academy of Dance honored and awarded Maya Sofou for her contribution to the art of dance by making her a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Dance, which is the Academy’s highest honor for Dance teachers.

Then the British Ambassador opened the historical exhibition with documents from the activities, achievements and contribution of the ballet schools of Greece that trained and introduced hundreds of children to the magical world of dance. The 50-year collaboration of the Dance Schools of Greece with the Royal Academy of Dance in London marked a new era in dance education in our country and continues to inspire and shape the art of dance for generations to come.
