Construction of apartments for refugees begins in New Belgrade

In the Mileva Marić Einštajn settlement in New Belgrade yesterday, the foundation stone was laid to mark the beginning of the construction of apartments for social housing intended for refugees. The foundation stone was laid by Belgrade Mayor Aleksandra Šapić, Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, Minister for Public Investments Darko Glišić and Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Nataša Stanisavljević.

In this location will 133 refugee families will receive apartments by August 2025, Beoinfo announced. On this occasion, Mayor Šapić reminded that the City of Belgrade has been participating in a joint project of the Commissariat for Refugees, the Government of the Republic of Serbia and President Vučić for almost a decade.

He stated that the new location, which is located near Jurija Gagarina Street, is extremely good considering that this street will soon be widened and extended, and then connected to the Miloš Veliki highway.

He also emphasized that work is being done to widen Vojvođanska Street and improve the infrastructure, which will improve the quality of life of citizens in this part of the city. The mayor expressed the hope that in 13 months he will be able to wish families who will find a new home in this beautiful place a happy move in.

In the end, Šapić confirmed that he would The City of Belgrade will continue with the implementation of projects involving refugeesin order to get a permanent residential address after many years.
