CONSTRUCTION OF SIX NEW SOLAR POWER PLANTS IN PLANS

The Government of Serbia made a decision on the creation of a Spatial Plan of the Special Purpose Area for the strategic project of building self-balanced large-capacity solar power plants with a battery system for electricity storage. This ambitious project will cover parts of the territories of the cities of Zaječar and Leskovac, as well as the municipalities of Bujanovac, Lebane, Negotin and Odžaci.

The spatial plan will include six solar power plants with battery systems, which, as stated, will enable a significant contribution to energy independence and the use of renewable energy sources.

The deadline for the drafting of the Spatial Plan is eight months, and the funds for the preparation of the plan are provided by Elektroprivreda Srbije. The Agency for Spatial Planning and Urbanism of the Republic of Serbia is responsible for the preparation of the Spatial Plan.

It is expected that the implementation of this project will provide an additional gigawatt of electricity from renewable sources, with an annual production of 1.2 TWh. Construction is expected to be completed in 2028.

Let us remind you that the group of bidders consisting of the companies Hyundai Engineering Co.LTD, Hyundai Eng. America Inc. and UGT Renewables LLC. will be a strategic partner of the state in the construction of large-capacity solar power plants.

It is about the previously announced construction project without management and maintenance of self-balanced large-capacity solar power plants with battery systems for electricity storage in Serbia.

The future power plants will have a total installed power of 1 GW, and the plan is for the construction of the solar power plants to be completed by June 1, 2028.

The project, as stated in the invitation, will be developed, built and handed over to EPS on a turnkey basis. This means that strategic partners, in addition to building solar power plants and battery systems, will also be obliged to build all other infrastructure.
