Consumer Minute: Via Verde identifier lights up yellow? It’s a sign that there are problems

Deco proteste received several complaints from consumers with older identifiers, who noticed errors in recording usage. The error often happens when a yellow light, instead of a green one, comes on during the toll booth.

The yellow light comes on when there are problems with the identifier, such as incorrect placement on the glass, errors in the associated ATM card, an occasional technical problem or due to a lack of battery.

If the identifier stops working, you can choose to buy a new one or subscribe to a service package.

Buying a new identifier is the most expensive option, it costs R$45 in normal sales and R$37.50 for customers with an electronic statement. Ten euros more than the previous price. Via Verde justifies this increase by explaining that the price of components has also become more expensive.

The order can be placed onlineand is delivered to the address you choose.

Via Verde no longer accepts battery changes, which means that the identifier will now stop working when the battery runs out.

The company claims that the new identifiers are tamper-proof, that is, they cannot be opened to change the battery and they also no longer change the batteries of old identifiers. Devices purchased now are lasting about five to seven years, according to the company, and previously lasted about ten years. With a three-year warranty.

As an alternative to the identifier, you can opt for one of the three service packages: via verde highway, ia verde mobilidade and via verde vida luz mobility and receive a new identifier, which is smaller and can be replaced free of charge.

In the first package you pay R$12.02 annually or R$6.12 if you choose an electronic statement. Payment can still be made in monthly installments. In this option you have access to toll payment.

The via verde Mobilidade package costs R$19.25 per year, or R$13.35 with an electronic statement and can also be paid in monthly installments.

Includes tolls, parking, refueling at Galp stations, charging electric cars on the public network, payment for the Setúbal-Tróia ferry or farmadrive.

The third package available is Via Verde Mobility Lee, which only charges for the months in which the service is used. It costs R$1.93 for each month of use or R$1.43 if you request an electronic statement.

Deco proteste accuses Via Verde of using the lack of competition in the market, given the size of this company, to increase prices and achieve more profit. And subscribing to these services is a form of attachment to the company, which degrades the business conditions given to consumers.

The consumer protection company also adds that the measure does not meet the sustainability principles that the company claims to defend.

Via Verde defends itself by saying that the market is open to competition. He cites the examples of Via Card, used on the 25 de Abril and Vasco da Gama bridges and international services.

Alternatively, greenway users will have to pay for each use. In the case of ex-scut, motorways with gantries, payment is not made in real time, so the consumer must pay within 15 days at CTT counters or website.
