Contempts in Greater Lisbon. PSP detains 13 suspects and identifies another 18 in the last 24 hours

The Public Security Police (PSP) informs, in a statement, that during the last 24 hours, it detained 13 suspects in the Lisbon Metropolitan area.

“In the last 24 hours, the Public Security Police detained 13 suspects for committing crimes of robbery (4), qualified physical harm (4), possession of explosive devices and prohibited weapons (3), attempted arson ( 1) and activation of a fire extinguisher and damage to a PSP vehicle (1)”, reads the statement.

According to the PSP, 45 incidents of fires involving urban furniture (mainly rubbish bins) were recorded in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Lisbon, in the municipalities of Almada, Amadora, Barreiro, Lisbon, Loures, Oeiras, Seixal and Sintra and 18 suspects were also identified for various reasons. .

The PSP also notes “a damaged police vehicle, two buses set on fire, 8 cars set on fire, a motorcycle set on fire, three injured citizens, one of them seriously – the driver of one of the buses, who suffered serious burns to his face, chest and limbs. ceilings and numerous burning garbage bins, as well as other urban furniture”.

The Public Security Police reiterates that it has “the mission of guaranteeing public security and order and respect for the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens, and that it is committed to maintaining public order, peace and tranquility throughout the world.” national territory, especially in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area where the aforementioned occurrences were recorded”.

In the statement, the security force “repudiates” and guarantees that “it will not tolerate acts of disorder and destruction carried out by criminal groups, committed to confronting the authority of the State and disturbing the security of the community, groups that are part of a minority and who do not represent the rest of the Portuguese population who just desire and want to live in peace and tranquility”.
