Cooperation is born in Vojvodina and in China

Novi Sad and the city of Jinan in China established cooperation in the fields of culture, education, agriculture, economy and trade. By signing the Letter of Intent during a working visit to China, the Mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Đurić, and the Mayor of Djinan, Ju Hantijan, marked the beginning of this cooperation. Đurić pointed out that friendly and brotherly relations between Serbia and China are key to strengthening these ties, and the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries opens up many economic opportunities.

Đurić emphasized that this is the first step towards the formalization of relations between the two cities, and the space for joint projects is huge, especially in the areas of high-tech innovation, science, education and culture. Also, Novi Sad is cooperating with Chinese partners on the construction of three new bridges, which are key infrastructure projects for the city. This cooperation has opened a new chapter in the relations between Novi Sad and Djinan, which will bring numerous benefits.

Agrarian in China, agrarian in Vojvodina – successful cooperation

In addition, the president of the provincial government, Maja Gojković, and the governor of the Chinese province of Shandong, Zhou Naisiang, signed an agreement on cooperation between AP Vojvodina and that Chinese province. This agreement provides incentives in the economy, trade and tourism, as well as joint investments in agriculture, food processing, science, technology, education, culture, traffic and transportation. The opening of the Chinese-European railway distribution center in Inđija created new opportunities for faster and more efficient transport of goods between China and Serbia.

Gojković emphasized that the cooperation between AP Vojvodina and Shandong Province further strengthens relations between Serbia and China. She apostrophized how these relationships are based on solid friendship. She pointed out that the largest number of infrastructure investments in Serbia comes from Shandong. Among those in question is the “Linglong” factory in Zrenjanin, which represents the largest greenfield investment in Serbia.

This agreement was signed on the first day of the 6th Conference of Local Leaders of China and the Countries of Central and Eastern Europe, which was attended by representatives of both sides. Also, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Novi Sad and Djinan. With the relevant agreement, mayors Milan Đurić and Ju Haitijen additionally confirmed plans for closer cooperation between these two cities.

After the signing, a meeting of local and regional leaders, participants of the sixth Conference of Local Leaders of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe was held. At this meeting, they discussed further steps in deepening relations between Serbia and China.
