RAB has arrested one person in connection with the murder of Golam Rabbani Tipu, the leader of the Khulna Volunteer League and the former councilor of the 4th ward of the City Corporation, at Cox’s Bazar beach.
Detained Sheikh Hasan Iftekhar alias Chalu former councilor of Ward No. 16 of Khulna. He is the general secretary of that ward Awami League.
RAB-15 captain Lt. Colonel HM Sajjad Hossain said that Iftekhar was arrested from Hotel Golden Hill on Kalatali Road in Cox’s Bazar after 12 o’clock on Thursday (January 9).
RAB informed that he is being interrogated, Golam Rabbani Tipu, who was killed along with Iftekhar, came to Cox’s Bazar on Thursday (January 9) morning. In the guest book of Hotel Golden Hill, it is seen that the arrested Iftekhar and the deceased Golam Rabbani Tipu along with a woman named Rumi (27) went to the hotel at 7 am.
RAB-15 captain Sajjad Hossain said that the woman named Rumi is absconding.
RAB also said that in a CCTV footage of the reception room of the hotel, it was seen that the deceased councilor Tipu left the hotel along with the woman at 6:31 pm on Thursday.
After that, Tipu was shot dead by miscreants on the footpath in front of Hotel Sea-Gal adjacent to Cox’s Bazar beach around 8:20 PM.
