Countdown for the World Nomad Games, which will open its doors in Kazakhstan between September 8-13!

Kazakhstan is preparing to host the 5th World Nomad Games, an international sports event showcasing ethnic sports.

The games organized by the Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports, UNESCO, the Organization of Turkic States and other organizations within the scope of the event, which will promote the development of ethnosports and ethnocultural movements, will be held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, under the slogan “Ulu Dala Dubiri” (the meeting of the great steppe). Approximately 2,500 athletes from nearly 100 countries are expected to participate in the event, and over 100,000 local and foreign tourists are expected to watch the event. A total of 97 sets of medals will be awarded in competitions in 21 sports branches, including horse racing, national wrestling, traditional intellectual games, martial arts competitions, traditional archery, national bird hunting and folk dances in the main sports fields. Visitors will be able to witness sports events rarely seen outside their own regions, as well as participate in workshops and try traditional handicrafts and authentic nomadic cuisine.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his statement regarding the nomadic games at the beginning of this year, said, “The World Nomadic Games in Kazakhstan will be a major event. It will be important for the spread of national sports and a healthy lifestyle, as well as for the expansion of cultural and human ties between the brotherly peoples, the heirs of the nomadic civilization of the Great Steppe.”

Türkiye HOSTS NOMAD GAMES IN 2022

The Nomadic Games were established to celebrate the traditional sports and cultural heritage of nomadic peoples around the world. The first Games were held in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyzstan) in 2014 and have since become a major biennial event. Kyrgyzstan hosted the Games in 2016 and 2018, and Turkey in 2022.
