DSI General Manager Mehmet Akif Balta stated that they were racing against time to complete the project and that their goal was to complete the dam body by the end of 2024 and to hold the water within 2025. DSI General Manager Mehmet Akif Balta emphasized that body filling production is currently ongoing at Uzundere Dam and said, “We have completed the cofferdam production, relay road tunnel and injection gallery production in the construction. In addition, we have completed 61 thousand m3 of the 85 thousand m3 body filling. Our work continues uninterruptedly.”
14 million liras additional income per year for Erzurum producers
Stating that Uzundere Dam, which will provide irrigation water to 1,410 acres of land, is of great importance for regional agriculture, DSI General Manager Mehmet Akif Balta said, “Thanks to the dam, local people will be introduced to modern irrigation, irrigation costs will decrease on 1,410 acres of land, and productivity will increase. With the transition to irrigated agriculture, our farmers will be able to plant and sow different products. Their earnings will increase. Erzurum producers will earn approximately 14 million liras more per year according to 2024 figures.”
It will store 426 thousand m3 of water
The body of the Uzundere Dam, which was designed as 65 meters high from the foundation, was designed in the RCC type. The dam, which will have a storage volume of 426 thousand m3, will provide life water to 1,410 decares of land.
