Countries where the number of millionaires is growing the fastest

The largest increase in the number of millionaires in the world in the last ten years was recorded by Vietnam, from European countries Malta and Monaco entered the top ten.

The largest drop, when it comes to the number of millionaires, was recorded by Nigeria at 48 percent, followed by Brazil and Russia with 28 and 26 percent, respectively.

The USA, regardless of the fact that it was in ninth place with a growth of 62 percent, still occupies the first place in the world with almost 5.5 million millionaires.

Vietnam, whose economy is on the rise like that of China and India, with growth of 98 percent, now has 19,400 millionaires, according to Visual Capitalist, which specifies that the report tracks individuals who have liquid investable wealth of one million dollars or more.

The figures, they add, are rounded to the nearest hundred and represent the inhabitants of each country until December 2023.

China, India and Mauritius

India and China have gained hundreds of thousands of new millionaires in the last ten years, consolidating their positions as major players in global wealth.

China, where the number of millionaires grew by 92 percent, today has more than 860,000, and India, with a growth of 85 percent, has 326,000 millionaires.

Mauritius, which is on the third place in the list of countries with the highest growth in the number of millionaires, behind India and Vietnam, today has 5,100, with a growth of 87 percent. In fifth place is the UAE, where there are 116,500 millionaires with a growth of 77 percent.

Malta and Monaco follow, then Singapore. Malta recorded a growth of 74 and Monaco of 68 percent, and today these two countries have 10,000 and 15,000 millionaires respectively.

In tenth place is New Zealand with growth below 50 percent and a total number of 56,100 millionaires.

Switzerland, Portugal, Italy, France, Germany, Greece and Great Britain have the most millionaires in Europe, which recorded a decline and today has 602,500 of them. All those European countries that record the growth of millionaires are ranked up to 22nd place.

Almost all rich Swiss inherited their wealth, not earned it

The Republic of South Africa recorded a 20 percent drop in millionaires, Great Britain by eight percent, and Japan and Hong Kong by around five percent.

In Europe, Germany has the largest number of millionaires – 806,000, which has come seriously close to second place China.

The 3,300 super-rich own a quarter of Germany’s total wealth

African countries such as Nigeria and South Africa have seen a decline in the number of millionaires, partly due to emigration and economic instability.
