Coway (CEO Seo Jang-won) announced on the 19th that its iconic ice water purifier won the top award, the ‘Energy Grand Prize and Korea Energy Agency Chairman’s Award’ at the ’27th Energy Winner of the Year Awards.’
Coway was recognized for its excellence in energy saving technology by winning four awards, including the Energy Target, Energy Efficiency Award, and Energy Technology Award.
The ‘Energy Winner of the Year’ award, hosted by the Consumers’ Citizens’ Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Energy Agency, is awarded annually to products with excellent energy efficiency or products that have achieved carbon neutrality.
At this year’s Energy Winner Awards, Coway won the Energy Grand Prize for its Icon Ice Water Purifier, the Energy Efficiency Award for its Prime Stand Water Purifier, the Energy Technology Award for its Power Up Air Purifier, and the Energy Winner Award for its Self-Care Bidet.
The ‘Coway Icon Ice Water Purifier’, which won the ‘Energy Award and Korea Energy Agency Chairman’s Award’, the highest award, received high praise for leading the way in product miniaturization and reducing power consumption by incorporating innovative energy-saving technologies such as a high-efficiency ice evaporator, a sealed water cooling system, and a high-density instantaneous hot water system.
The high-efficiency ice evaporator, a key component in ice production, has improved the movement of refrigerant efficiently, shortening ice-making time and reducing energy consumption. In addition, the sealed cold water system with high cooling efficiency directly cools the cooling coil to quickly and stably produce cold water while also enhancing hygiene.
The Primestand water purifier, which won the Energy Saving Award, is a large-capacity product designed to be used in multi-use facilities without any problems. This product has developed and applied an energy-saving control system optimized for large-capacity water purifiers, and has improved energy efficiency by applying low-power BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) inverter compressors and vacuum insulation materials.
The Powerup air purifier has improved its cleaning performance by approximately 17% compared to existing air purifiers of the same class, and has won the Energy Technology Award in recognition of its high performance, high efficiency, and low noise technology.
In addition, the Self-Care Bidet, which won the Energy Winner Award, has enhanced energy efficiency by being equipped with a hybrid hot water tank that combines the advantages of the hot water tank method and the instantaneous hot water method.
A Coway official said, “Coway is actively introducing energy-saving and eco-friendly technologies to minimize environmental impact throughout the entire product development process and achieve its carbon neutrality goal,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to realize energy savings based on our differentiated technological prowess and develop eco-friendly products for consumers.”
