Crin Antonescu. “We are not in Iran”

“In my opinion, the entire political activity of Mrs. Diana Şoşoacă is deeply harmful, toxic in terms of content and categorically disgusting in terms of expressing the forms of manifestation and so on. (…)

My opinion, even if probably shared by others, is not at all sufficient to prohibit the political exercise of this person.

So I think that, in relation to yesterday’s decision of the Constitutional Court, there remains a very serious discussion to be held”, said Crin Antonescu on Antena 3.

He specified that, “if a criminal action had been opened against Mrs. Sosoacă, even under the conditions of immunity, for assaulting the gendarmes in the exercise of their duties – because immunity is for political statements and actions, not for hooliganism, if it had been lifted and removed by force from the plenary session of the Parliament, when he repeatedly prevented the normal development of its activity, if, based on the law, the party led by Mrs. Sosoacă would have been removed from the law or would have been ordered by a court, from the possibility of proposing candidates for the presidential elections or other elections, all these things would have been, from his point of view, justified and would not have involved much discussion”.

“But, if these things did not happen, at this moment the Court’s decision is questionable because, in my opinion, we cannot censor when candidates are proposed. We are not in Iran, let’s only accept candidates who have orthodox views, from our point of view, and others not”, said the former PNL leader.

Crin Antonescu mentioned that, for now, we have some consequences related to the propaganda war.
