Cristina Neagu, sharp opinion regarding the invasion of foreign players in the League of Flowers. “It should be of great value.” He doesn’t want to hear about sports after retirement. “I’m going to take a break. I want something less stressful”

Between two Champions League matches, CSM Bucharest champion played on Wednesday, in Iași, an easy match in the company of the last ranked CSM Iași 2020, in the first round of the return of the Flower League.

The game was won without any emotions by the championship leader, score 37-25 (22-14), but the champions were more focused on Saturday’s Champions League duel with Krim Ljubljana.

Cristina Neagu, sharp opinion regarding the invasion of foreign players in the League of Flowers. “It should be of great value”

To the disappointment of the almost 2,000 people from Iași present at the match, Cristina Neagu did not play a single minute, although the audience chanted her name and received her very warmly.

At the end, Cristina Neagu thanked the people of Iași for their welcome and touched on several topics, including the presence of foreign players in the Romanian championship in far too large numbers. Neagu stated that he is not against it, only that the foreigners who come should have a high value.

“My opinion is that high-value foreign players should be brought into the domestic competition. And if they are not of great value, Romanian players should have more chances to play. So I’m not against foreign players, just that high value ones should be brought in. I saw that there are many foreign players in many teams, including in the 2nd League. I think that the Romanian players also have a place to play, but that’s my opinion. You bring high-value foreigners, because you need them in international competitions, in the Champions League, but there are many places where the Romanians could also develop. It should be like this, a balance”, declared Cristina Neagu.

“I have no regrets at the end of my career. I gave everything”

Neagu also spoke about what awaits her after retirement, stating that she has not yet decided what she will do after the last official match of her career. He feels the need to rest and stay away from the stress of competition.

At the same time, Cristina Neagu scored that he has no regrets at the end of his career, as he gave everything for the national team and the club teams.

“I have no regrets regarding my career. Every time I gave everything I could for the national team and for CSM Bucharest, I tried to do my job as well as I could. Of course I would have liked to win a gold medal with Romania, I want to win the Champions League with CSM Bucharest, but from this point of view, of the fact that I gave my best every time, I didn’t no regrets.

Since the summer, I will definitely take a break for now and after the break I don’t know. I’m closer to saying no to getting back into the sport than yes. If I come back, you’ll find out. For now I haven’t set any priority goals, I want to rest for a while, because I need it. And after that, possibly find something that I like, but which is not as stressful as handball in my career”, added Cristina Neagu.

“I need rest”

The CSM star explained the reasons why he did not play a single minute in Iași: “We have a lot of matches in this period and I also need rest. But I really wanted to be part of the team and come to Iași precisely for this reason, to meet the fans from Iași. Maybe they’re a little disappointed that we didn’t play, but we also have important new things. And in the end it is the coach’s decision to do this. Again, I wanted to be here to meet the fans and I’m very glad that they came in such large numbers. The girls from Iași were even telling me to come more often, because they have never seen this hall almost full. There was no way I could enter the final, I’m a player at the end of my career, with numerous medical problems, it was also quite cold in the gym, I really had no way to perform. I’m glad that people came to the gym, I thank the people from Iași for the nice gesture towards me”.

Thinking of Krim

On Saturday, CSM Bucharest will play an extremely important match in the Champions League, with Krim Ljubljana, and Cristina Neagu says that victory is the only option considered by the Romanian champions.

“We are fighting for the 3rd place in the group and it is extremely important to win this match with Krim. We will give everything to keep the points at home on Saturday. Expectations are high, but there are many good teams in the Champions League. It’s ok, we lost games, but nobody stepped on our feet, We were there in the game, we tried, we didn’t manage to get the points in the end. It’s a very complicated season for us, we also have medical problems, so far since the beginning of the season we’ve never had the whole valid squad. It’s tough. In certain matches we struggle, but we are still on the cards for the Champions League and this very important match for us, with Krim, which we want to win, is coming,” Cristina Neagu said.
