The Dutch navigation startup eZwayZ has raised more than 50,000 euros to provide 120 additional buildings with indoor navigation and to also make its app available for Android devices.
Founder Bart van Heijningen cared about the fate of blind and partially sighted people. He learned from conversations that they often had difficulty navigating and developed an app.
The app uses bright colors or vibrations to indicate the best route within a building to reach a specific destination. The information is so complete that the app also states whether the door opens towards you or away from you and which side the door handle is on.
Some museums are currently equipped with indoor navigation, with funding from the Bartiméus Foundation. Below that the Rijksmuseum and Nemo. There are also a few stations and government buildings available for indoor navigation in the current app.
With funding raised through crowdfunding, the Android app will be completed and new functions will be added to the app.
