Crypto platform Blox joins industry peer Coinmerce

The Dutch crypto platform Blox is acquired by industry peer Coinmerce. The takeover talks came in one rapids after a discovered embezzlement by an employee at Blox, which caused a significant shortage.

Coinmerce previously acquired customers from Bux and Binance and is now buying a majority in Blox in a crypto market with fewer and fewer providers.

The companies do not make any statements about the suspicion of fraud and the size of the amount disposed of at the Nijmegen-based Blox.

The Blox employee was suspended after the discovery and a report was made to the police.

Blox, active in the Dutch crypto market since 2013 and registered with De Nederlandsche Bank, is with 750,000 accounts much larger than Coinmerce, which has 400,000 accounts.

Blox entered into a rather striking partnership with the listed football club Ajax in 2021.
