London – Crystal Palace players beat Tottenham 1:0 in the London derby and only celebrated their first win of the season in the 9th round of the Premier League. Chelsea moved up to fourth in the points table after a 2-1 win over Newcastle and West Ham beat Manchester United 2-1 thanks to a set-piece penalty. The round will end with an evening clash between Arsenal and Liverpool.
Crystal Palace experienced their worst start to a season since 1992, when they were relegated from the top flight. With five goals scored, he had the weakest attack and the media was already speculating about who would replace Austrian coach Oliver Glasner. On the other hand, the “Roosters” were in scoring form and in the last four rounds they scored 12 goals against their opponents. Today’s match, however, had only one scorer, and that was the Frenchman Mateta in the home team’s service after half an hour. The Italian goalkeeper Vicario saved the guests from a major defeat.
West Ham’s Spanish coach Lopetegui made five changes in the lineup after the 1:4 debacle at Tottenham, including the goalkeeper position, where the Frenchman Areola was replaced by the Pole Fabianski. He also put Tomáš Souček on the bench, Vladimír Coufal already starts there regularly. Souček replaced the Brazilian Paquet after a goalless half, but the hero of the match was another substitute.
Dutchman Summerville celebrated his first league goal with his shirt off and didn’t even mind the yellow card. Brazilian Casemiro equalized with a precise header, but Bowen converted a penalty kick in the second minute of regulation and the “Hammers” beat Manchester United at home for the third time in a row.
Chelsea put the ball in the net after just four minutes, but Palmer only enjoyed his seventh league goal for a moment before it was disallowed by the video referee for offside. Sweden’s Isak responded to Jackson’s home goal, but Palmer still got a regular goal after the change of sides. In the end, the referee ordered a penalty against the guests, but after watching the video, he canceled it.
