Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) successfully completed ‘The City is a Theater, Nature is a Stage’ on the 26th as part of the cultural city creation project.

‘The city is the theater, nature is the stage’ is a project that conducts street performances (busking) in parks, riversides, cafes, etc., which are rest areas in citizens’ daily lives. Eleven local art groups, including an orchestra, a band, a B-boy, and a magic performance, participated in the performance.

‘The city is a theater, nature is a stage’ started with a band performance at ‘Jungnangcheon Balmul Rest Area’ on the 5th and continued with 6 street performances (busking) at ▲ Jangam Balgok Neighborhood Park ▲ Songsan Temple Site Neighborhood Park ▲ cafes in the area until the 26th. ) received great response from citizens.

In particular, the last street performance (busking) held at a cafe in Nokyang-dong was a pop jazz performance that Mayor Kim Dong-geun enjoyed on stage with the citizens. On this day, in addition to street performances (busking), we also viewed ceramic works with artist Shin Sang-ho, providing citizens with a special cultural experience combining music and ceramics.

Meanwhile, artist Shin Sang-ho is a master of Korean ceramics and served as the first director of the Gimhae Clayarch Museum of Art, the world’s first architectural ceramics museum.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “It was an opportunity to transform everyday spaces into cultural spaces by providing citizens with cultural experiences even in everyday spaces.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to increase the value of Uijeongbu as a cultural city.”
