CULTURAL EVENTS AT THE ITALIAN INSTITUTE OF CULTURE

Italian films are screened in this edition Not too cheerful, de Bruno Bozzetto, Art HAPPINESSby Alessandro Rak, Nowhereby Simone Massi. Classic and contemporary Italian animated films have also been screened at the Cervantes Institute. Bucharest Photofest (October 11-20, 2024) is a festival-platform that transforms photography into a tool of visual education and has assumed the mission of mediating the access of the general public to some of the most relevant landmarks in domestic and international photography. Sara Lepore, Hugo Weber and Alex Zoboli are Italian photographers participating this year at Bucharest Photofest. On October 12, IIC Bucharest hosts a meeting with Sara Lepore (from 11.00 a.m.) and with Nicolas Dykmans (from 12.00 p.m.). Also on October 12, at 18.00, the exhibitions Moimom by Hugo Weber and Shine On by Alex Zoboli will be inaugurated at the Goethe Institut.

The Italian Institute of Culture in Bucharest presents on October 14, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., in Aleea Alexandru 41, Bucharest, the concert performed by Elena Paparusso Trio (Elena Paparusso – vocals and compositions, Paolo Profeti – saxophone and compositions, Albert Tajti – piano and compositions).

Singer, composer and performer, Elena Paparusso was awarded an artistic residency at the Italian Institute of Culture in Bucharest from September 23 to October 20, 2024, for her compositions, thanks to Progetto Air 2024, supported by MIDJ (Association of Italian Jazz Musicians) and Europe Jazz Network.

Fashion Panorama – The Italian New Wave is an exhibition produced by the General Directorate for the Promotion of Italy, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, curated by Vogue Italia. The purpose of the exhibition is to give visibility to the new generation of Italian fashion designers. Fashion is traditionally one of the industries most involved in spreading the concept of Made in Italy internationally, and it also functions as a powerful economic engine for many other sectors.

The band Berardi Farmhouses presents on October 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., at ARCUB – Hanul Gabroveni, Great Hall (Str. Lipscani 84-90, Bucharest) the show I’M TRYING TO FLY! Tribute to Domenico Modugno, with Gianfranco Berardi, Davide Berardi (vocals and guitar) and Giulia Bertasi (accordion).

“I try to fly” is an original play which, starting from elements of Gianfranco Berardi’s biography, tells the life of one of the many young people raised in the province who, attracted by the myth, are ready to face any adventure to fulfill their the dream of becoming artists.

The Italian Institute of Culture in Bucharest presents, on October 23, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., in Aleea Alexandru 41, the concert performed by Marco Vezzoso Trio (Marco Vezzoso – trumpet, Alessandro Collina – piano, Gabi Matei – drums), a jazz-style instrumental reinterpretation of some of the most beautiful contemporary Italian pop songs.

Marco Vezzoso is a trumpet teacher at the National Conservatory of Nice (France), and Alessandro Collina is an acclaimed jazz pianist.

Festival Cannes Films has Bucharest a reached its 15th edition and takes place between October 25 and November 3, 2024. At this year’s edition, the film Parthenope by Paolo Sorrentino (Italy, France, 2024), awarded the CST Prize for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. Lorenzo Esposito and Paolo Bertolin participate in the events organized within the Festival from Italy, with the support of IIC Bucharest.

Franca MancinelliItalian poet and writer of international renown, will be the guest of the Italian Institute of Culture and the Jazz Roots Poetry Series curators for an artistic residency dedicated to the rediscovery of the city of Bucharest.

A special event during this residency will take place on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., at the Italian Institute of Culture: a presentation of his experience that will interweave impressions of Bucharest with his larger poetic work. The meeting, moderated by Olmo Calzolari and Teodora Raicu, will be bilingual, with readings in Italian and translations in Romanian, offering the public an authentic dialogue between the two cultures.
