The Pankrit Culture Center as part of the summer events of the Municipality of Anogeia – Summer 2024 organizes the festival of folk dances entitled “The Flame of Tradition” on Friday 19 July 2024 at 21:00 at the central Armi square of Anogeia.

It is a festival of genuine folk traditional Greek dances, which will travel the spectators all over Greece, giving them the opportunity to learn and also to dance dances, which will weave with the cultural thread of the great folk tradition the colorful tapestry of the dance of the homeland us, as pointed out by the organizers who cooperate for the festival with the Cultural Association of Anogeia, with the support of the Region of Crete and the auspices of the Municipality of Anogeia.

The dance clubs that will participate are: Xanthi Greek High School, Lamia Dance & Culture Club “Horopolis”, Eagles of Moria, Athens OPA Association, Chalkida Teachers & Kindergarten Teachers Association, Chalkida Dry Fountain Cultural Association, Chalkida Citizens Association “The Castle”, Association Traditional Education, Xirobrysi Cultural Association of Chalkida, Association of Teachers and Kindergarten Teachers of Chalkida, Kanithos Cultural Association of Chalkida and Anogeia Cultural Association.

Also, in the island of Gavdos, for one more year the Municipality in co-organization with the Region of Crete implements the festival GAVDOS 2024 with a network of cultural activities for the residents and visitors of the island. Those who find themselves on the island will experience a musical journey through the Greek discography with Erofilis, Leonidas Maridakis and Yiannis Giannakakis, on Saturday, July 20 at 9:30 p.m. in Sarakiniko, at the Stone Theater.

In the meantime, the theater group of the Workers’ Association of Eastern Crete Secondary School is putting on the show “A crazy thirst” on Sunday July 21 at 21:15 at the Bethlehem Gate, with the support of the Region of Crete and free entry for citizens. Aniforas, the cultural initiative that aims to promote literature, the arts and intellectual dialogue, co-organized by the Region of Crete and under the auspices of the Municipality of Anogeia, announces the start of the third cycle of events focusing on contemporary Greek poetry and world literature , in Topo tou Boskos, in Anogeia. This year’s program is an exciting mix of different literary genres, styles and approaches, and each event offers, according to the organizers, a unique opportunity for viewers to immerse themselves in the minds of different writers, gaining insight into their creative processes, inspirations and themes. shape their literary works. From poetry to prose, fiction to non-fiction and everything in between, Aniforas embraces the rich mosaic of the written word and promotes the power of storytelling. Under the enchanting landscape of Psiloritis, Aniforas once again invites distinguished authors and translators to participate in interesting evenings of acquaintance, dialogue and interaction centered on their literary works. These thematic events are a meeting point for restless minds, passionate readers and lovers of literature.

The program’s diverse authors will present their works and engage in lively discussions, allowing participants to explore the nuances of their narratives, analyze underlying themes, and reveal the profound impact literature has on our lives and society.

The program concerns:

Friday July 19, 20.00, two of the most important contemporary Greek poets present their work. Stamatis Polenakis “The Roses of Mercedes” and Yiannis Stigas “Sonderkommando”.

On Friday, September 6, the Greek language translators Maria Papadima and Efi Yiannopoulou of the work of two of the most important writers of the 20th century, the Portuguese Fernando Pessoa and the Mexican Juan Rulfo, will talk about the work of these two leading writers and also about the complex subject of translating authors with such a distinctive style.
