Cupra Terramar, the interiors of the new Spanish SUV

The range of Cupra has recently expanded with the addition of the Terramarthe largest SUV from the Barcelona-based manufacturer. At 4.52 metres long, it is slightly larger than the Formentor and is available with powerful internal combustion or plug-in hybrid engines.

And the interior? Here too there is no shortage of innovations, even if the now classic Cupra family feeling is maintained.

Cupra Terramar, the plancia

The dashboard shapes are very reminiscent of the brand’s other models, such as the recent restyling of the Formentor and Leon. The look is characterised by three levels, with the first occupying the upper part of the dashboard, the second consisting of an element worked in a similar way to brushed aluminium that integrates the air conditioning vents on the sides and the third on which the 12.9” infotainment display.

The steering wheel follows the design of the other Cupras in every way, while the central tunnel features some important innovations. In fact, on the Terramar there is a new arrangement of the storage compartments (larger than the other models), while in place of the “trigger” of the automatic transmissionyou change gear with the buttons arranged vertically near the driver.

Cupra Terramar, finishes and materials

The feeling on board the Terramar is one of great attention to detail, with customizable ambient lighting that envelops the front area, while the sporty upholstery is made of sustainable materials.

In fact, the seats are made of polymer fibre fabrics designed together with the company Seaqualwhich uses waste materials collected in the Mediterranean in collaboration with fishermen, NGOs and local communities. To the touch, they are soft and well-crafted, as are the door panels which have a soft coating. The plastics in the lower part of the doors and the tunnel are harder.

Cupra Terramar, the spaciousness

The 7 cm more in length and 7 cm more in height compared to the Formentor are noticeable in thecockpit of the Terramar. In particular, those sitting in the back enjoy more legroom (also thanks to the possibility of sliding the rear seat back and forth a few centimetres) and even taller passengers have no problems with the “clearance” between their heads and the roof.

Those sitting in the center, however, always have to deal with a small step that takes away a bit of space for their feet.

Good capacity of the trunkwhich is between 540 and 630 litres for the endothermic Terramar, while the plug-in hybrid ones have a slightly reduced volume, between 400 and 490 litres, depending on the position of the rear bench.
