Customs Enforcement teams keep a close eye on smugglers



Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams seized smuggled electronic cigarettes, cars and auto spare parts in operations carried out in different places and dates.

According to a written statement from the ministry, teams continue their operations against smuggling across the country.

In this context, the suspicious container considered to be risky at Ambarlı Port in Istanbul was subjected to detailed examination.

As a result of the searches conducted in the vehicle, 11 pallets of items wrapped in black stretch film were detected. When the stretch films in question were opened, it was seen that there were 118 boxes stacked on 1000 plastic water bottles with no markings on them. 23,575 electronic cigarettes in the boxes were seized. The market value of the smuggled goods was calculated as approximately 30 million lira.

The investigation into the incident continues at the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

LUXURY CAR CONFISCATED IN KAPIKULE

In the operation at the Kapıkule Customs Gate, a suspicious car entering Turkey was followed.

It was determined that the vehicle was brought into the country with a fake retirement certificate.

The vehicle with a market value of 51 million 146 thousand lira was seized.

The investigation into the incident is continuing at the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

AUTO SPARE PARTS SMUGGLING WORTH 135 MILLION LIRA WAS PREVENTED

On the other hand, the teams continue their operations against auto spare parts smuggling.

In this context, many auto spare parts, from taillights to fog lights, bodywork to air conditioning materials and tires, were seized in the first half of the year. In these operations, 135 million lira worth of smuggling was prevented.
