There is “several Portuguese organizations affected by the global computer ‘blackout’, with “different degrees of impact”says the National Cybersecurity Center (CNCS), a public entity that is monitoring the case.
Num statement on its official website, published this Friday, July 19, the CNCS says “so far there is no evidence to suggest that this was a malicious act.”
Affected entities are being contactedwith the necessary support being offered, and mitigation measures have already been communicated, he adds.
Social Security operates normally
On the public services side, the Ministry of Social Security states that, until early afternoon, there was “no report or indication of changes in services”.
The announcements come after tech giant Microsoft announced it was taking “mitigation measures” after an outage affected several companies in different countries, from airports to airlines, media outlets and banks.
