Spokesperson for the Youth Parliament, facilitator of the 2 tons project, presenter of La Fresco des frontières nationaux… The commitments of Cyril Batolo, just graduated from Arts et Métiers, are numerous.
In his engineering school, he chaired the association responsible for imagining the third French student COP. The event, which aims to raise awareness among young people of climate issues, welcomed some 2,500 participants to Angers in March 2023.
“We organized a transition careers forum, an entrepreneurship competition, round tables and more than 30 workshops on sustainable cities, enumerates the engineer. We also had a festival mixing art and ecology, under the sponsorship of Yann Arthus-Bertrand.” While the concept of student COPs is gaining momentum and a fourth edition is looming in Marseille for 2025, Cyril Batolo hopes to unite the movement: “Currently, each COP is organized by a different association. We want to create a unified multi-campus structure on a national scale.”
Guarantor of the spirit of the student COPs, this association could transmit good practices to the organizing teams. The young engineer also hopes to see this structure participate in the ecological transition strategy of higher education alongside the Conference of Grandes Écoles or France Universités. Although he does not make this associative commitment his profession, Cyril Batolo does not move away from it: he recently accepted a position at Enedis, linked to the energy transition.
