Brno engineers presented a unique drone that resembles and flies like a butterfly. The creators describe it as a very light and safe drone. What use can it have?
There is a wide range of drones on the market today – from those for amateur filming to professional equipment. Today, drones are used for various purposes: from photographing natural scenery, to searching for missing persons, to being used in agriculture to monitor land. They are also often used in geodesy and cartography for 3D terrain mapping. In short, there is something for everyone.
Today we will introduce you to a unique butterfly “novelty” that you may not have seen before. Brno biologists and engineers took part in the development, and together they created a robotic insect controlled in the same way as ordinary drone. This particular model however it does not have classic propellersbut flies using wings that faithfully imitate the movement of real insects, such as butterflies or dragonflies. And because of this, it is very safe, nothing can hurt us in the event of contact, like the propellers of classic drones, for example. However, in order to be able to fly as imagined, must wave up to twelve times per second!
Does a drone of awareness come to you? You may remember the year 2023, when something like this appeared in the hands of developer Matěj Karásek. The one under the company name Flapper Drones introduced the first model, which you can see in the preview image. However, development and improvement continue, and drones now move even better. And what is their actual use? For example, during theater performances, when drones shine with beautiful colors. How do you like the Czech product?
