Robots are replacing workers: Dacia “forced” to voluntary layoff
Romanian Dacia started the so-called voluntary dismissal, all due to the reorganization of the company, which will begin on October 1.
Namely, the program of voluntary dismissal is based on the fact that employees are paid certain funds proportional to their seniority in the factory. Workers who wish to apply for this program will have the opportunity to do so until September 20.
According to the information sent to Dacia employees, people with two years of experience receive the lowest amount, and they will be paid around 4,500 euros.
Those with 12 to 16 years of experience in the company will receive a large amount of money – about 30,000 euros, and employees with 16 or more years of experience will receive the most money – about 37,000 euros.
As it was emphasized, the company decided on this move in sectors where production is robotized, but also in those sectors where the activity of workers is reduced.
This year, Dacia will finish production of the Jogger model, and after that it will enter the production of the Bigster model.
Only 3.2 vehicles per employee
“The factory has modernized a good part of the production activities with the help of industrial robots, which leads to the need to reduce the number of employees,” writes the Romanian Profit.
Romania has one of the most inefficient relationships between the number of employees in the automotive industry and the number of cars produced per employee.
The two car factories in Craiova and Miovena have an annual production of 3.2 vehicles per employee, which is below the EU average of 5.4 vehicles. Also, Romania is among the countries with the most employees in the automotive industry with a total of 160,000 workers.
For Dacia, this is not the first program of the so-called of voluntary dismissal, and the last similar one was implemented in 2022.
