Dacia model prepared from the factory to be a taxi. What would be the advantages of such a vehicle?

Transport, regardless of the form it takes, is an indispensable service, and the taxi industry could be boosted by cars created specifically for this application.

In a recent edition of George Buhnici’s podcastDan Boabeș, who is an entrepreneur and, as of 2023, the owner of the Meridian taxi company, spoke about how vehicles specially created for this field could help this branch of transport.

As we know, most of the time, taxi meters are simple serial cars that are given specific modifications, such as insignia and the toll machine. However, there are also manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz that offer specially modified cars, direct from the factory, at preferential prices for taxi companies.

This could also be possible for other manufacturers to adapt the machines to the needs of our country, and Dan Boabeș says that he has started discussions with a manufacturer in this direction.

The owner of Meridian Taxi is hoping for a factory-prepared Dacia Jogger for this field

“We were in contact with Dacia/Renault and we are in contact and we are trying to go into this area of having a product. Not yet, we are far from that, from a special taxi product, a Dacia for taxis”, said Dan Boabeș.

“We want to have the Jogger in the fleet, for the volume side, the boot volume area is very important to customers,” he added.

Models with LPG powered engines would be very suitable for this application. These 1.0-litre engines can run on both petrol and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), which would make them a good option for taxi services, especially as it’s a factory-fitted system.

It is also possible to find solutions for cars with specific equipment, which lend themselves even better to the taxi service, but it remains to be seen if Dacia will develop such a product.
