Dacia relaunches its cheapest Spring in France

To face the competition, Dacia is relaunching the Spring in an even more affordable version, called Electric 45 and sold for €16,900. A 45 hp engine which was no longer available here since the restyling of the city car, unlike some of our European neighbors.

Bestseller among electrics with just under 30,000 units sold in 2023, the Dacia Spring is no longer as attractive as before. Last year, only 5,144 small city cars were registered in France. A hell of a fall, which can be explained among other things by the restyling of the Romanian last spring, but above all because of its less well placed price.

Indeed, after his pen, the Spring was only offered in its version called “Electric 65”, for 65 hp. As a result, the entry ticket for the electric city car rose to €18,900 (+€500). In addition to this, because it is assembled in China, the latter is deprived of the ecological bonus which can amount to up to €4,000.

The Dacia Spring accessible for less than €17,000

Faced with competition from Stellantis with its Citroën ë-C3 and Leapmotor T03, Dacia backpedal this January 7, 2025, and returns to the price front by relaunching the marketing of the entry-level Electric 45 version (for 45 hp, therefore) of its Spring. An engine that was available to some of our European neighbors, but no longer to us. Sold from €16,900, the Spring thus takes over the crown of the cheapest electric car on the market.

A title that was not obtained without compensation. Equipment that we thought was essential in a modern car will be absent in the city car in the basic version called Essential. This is particularly the case… with electric windows! To contain its low price, Dacia has logically also cut back on the presence of air conditioning. In this case, low cost really takes on its full meaning. To find its comfort elements, you will have to turn to the higher Expression finishing level, billed at €17,900.

The GSR2 standards is European legislation requiring manufacturers since July 2024 to, among other things, equip their new models with driving assistance for safety.

Furthermore, the 100% digital 7-inch speedometer is still present, even in the basic finish. The Spring is still full of technology with mandatory safety equipment in order to meet the GSR2 standard, such as automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, rear parking assistance, maintenance assistance in the lane, the driver attention monitoring system or even the emergency call (eCall).

Still 225 km of autonomy

This entry-level version uses the same battery as the higher engine, with a capacity of 26.8 kWh, with an identical range announced at 225 km according to the WLTP cycle. We remain far from the theoretical 320 km, and the more flattering services offered by the Citroën ë-C3, but which require €23,300 (excluding bonus).
