Dacia Sandero returned to the top of the European ranking in terms of new car sales. Now, the subcompact model is on track to become the bestseller in Europe in 2024.
Although sales of the Sandero model experienced a slight decline, the domestic hatchback was the only car that managed to cross the threshold of 20,000 copies sold in October on the European market, writes Profit.ro.
If in September we saw a Tesla Model Y return to the top of the ranking, October confirmed that it was only a temporary increase. Sales of the electric model fell 20% last month, sending the car from No. 1 to 32nd in the month-on-month rankings.
Thus, Dacia Sandero returned to the top of the October sales ranking, with 21,266 units sold on the Old Continent, with only 473 units in the minus, compared to the similar period in 2023.
Dacia Duster will end this year in the position of European bestseller
The Romanian model outclassed both the Peugeot 208, Volkswagen Tiguan and Volkswagen Golf, the best-selling cars of the German brand, being also number 1 in their segments: SUV and compact class.
Renault Clio was only in 3rd place, with 16,272 units sold in October. In the fourth position in the ranking followed the two Yaris from Toyota, the SUV Yaris Cross and the hatchback of small class, Yaris.
With this result, Dacia Sandero is in a comfortable position, from which it can already be called the best-selling car of 2024 in Europe. From the beginning of the year until October, Dacia Sandero was sold in 224,875 copies throughout Europe, and the chances that this result will be surpassed are very small, given the fact that the models on the 2nd and 3rd places – Golf and Clio – 181,927 and 178,584 units were sold respectively in the same period.
