The new Dacia Spring model, launched this spring, came to the attention of the most cited newspaper in Ireland. Here is what the journalists of The Irish Times wrote about the new Spring.
Launched in the spring of 2024, the new Dacia Spring model, fully electric, attracted the attention of the oldest newspaper in Ireland.
Journalists from The Irish Times have written extensively about the new Spring and presented its pluses and minuses.
Dacia Spring, in the attention of the most quoted newspaper in Ireland
„Dacia Spring gives you only what you need”, is the conclusion reached by the Irish journalists. That is, “Dacia Spring gives you only what you need”, no more, no less.
But before reaching that conclusion, they tested the new Spring model to see what it could offer.
With an engine of 65 HP and an average consumption of 12.9 kWh/100 km, it was liked by the specialists from the beginning.
„We forgot to think that often enough is really enough. That is, only what you need and nothing more. And the new Dacia Spring offers you just what you need. The car produced by Dacia is the cheapest electric vehicle sold in Ireland. With a classier interior than you’d expect, Dacia is clearly worth every penny with the new electric car, even if the Spring isn’t a car designed to be fast on the streets”, it is stated in the editorial published by Irish Times.
The new Spring weighs less than 1,000 kilograms (984 kg), making it not only the lightest electric vehicle on the market, but one of the lightest cars in all engine classes. A minus is represented by acceleration, the version equipped with a 45 HP engine reaching from 0 to 100 km/h in about 19 seconds. And the one with a 65 hp engine reaches a hundred in almost 14 seconds.
What’s more, the new Spring’s price could make it Ireland’s most affordable electric car. It has not been announced, for now, how much the new model will cost, but it is possible that it will be around 17,000 euros.
„For this amount of money, you probably shouldn’t expect much, and Dacia won’t give you much either. In fact, consider yourself lucky that you even get a 26.8 kWh battery and a range of 225 km. But if it is cheap enough, then it can become the ideal car for the city or short trips in the countryside. In all honesty, the Spring is just about the most charming car I’ve driven all year. It’s exactly the “amount” of car you need and not a bit more“, the Irish journalists concluded.
Dacia Spring, among the best-selling EVs in Europe
Dacia Spring, launched in 2021, and success came almost immediately.
In 2022, it ranked 3rd in Europe’s Top Selling Electric Cars to Individuals. It occupied the same position last year, ahead of important names in the automotive industry.
In total, more than 150,000 copies were sold around the globe. And the recipe for success is simplicity, functionality and an excellent price-quality ratio.
In Romania, the starting price of the new Dacia Spring model is just under 17,000 euros. But, through the Rabla Plus Program it can be purchased for approximately 12,000 euros.
