(Health Korea News / Im Do-i) Keimyung University Daegu Dongsan Hospital (Director Woojin Jeong) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the ‘Gyeongbuk Area (Daegu) Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center’ on the first floor of the Daegu Dongsan Hospital annex on the 18th and begin full-scale construction.
The ‘Gyeongbuk Area (Daegu) Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center’ project was promoted to provide customized rehabilitation treatment services to disabled and high-risk children in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. Daegu Dongsan Hospital was selected for the 2021 Ministry of Health and Welfare public contest project, launched a TF team for the establishment of a public children’s rehabilitation medical center, and established a comprehensive plan for the project. After several reviews and deliberations, construction will begin in earnest in July.
The Gyeongbuk Area (Daegu) Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center will be built by remodeling the 1st and 2nd floors of the annex of Daegu Dongsan Hospital with a total project cost of 7.2 billion won (3.6 billion won from the national budget and 3.6 billion won from the local budget). It will have a total floor area of approximately 1,100 pyeong, 20 day-care beds, and can accommodate more than 50 outpatients.
The center will create a medical environment that is convenient for children with disabilities and high-risk children. It will introduce 81 types of medical equipment, including a robotic walking therapy device, and build treatment facilities such as physical, occupational, and speech therapy rooms. It will provide customized rehabilitation treatment services needed by children with disabilities and support various programs for their return to society. It aims to complete construction by the end of December this year, conduct a trial run in January next year, and officially open in February.
At the groundbreaking ceremony held that day, Director Cho Chi-heum of Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center said, “In order to provide high-quality treatment for children with disabilities, we plan to establish a public children’s rehabilitation medical center with specialized medical staff and cutting-edge medical equipment,” and added, “We will continue to carry on Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center’s Christian love and spirit of service and strive to provide customized rehabilitation and treatment for children with disabilities.
