Firefighters extinguished a hall fire in the industrial zone behind the railway station in Chrastav in Liberecko this morning. The intervention lasted from Friday evening. A volunteer unit guarded the site overnight. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Regional fire department spokeswoman Jaroslava Benešová told ČTK. According to the first estimate, the fire caused damage of 30 million crowns. It follows from information from firefighters a POLICE.
“The incident is being intensively investigated by police investigators, to whom we provide maximum cooperation,” said Benešová. She pointed out that the damage estimate may change depending on the investigation. Police spokeswoman Klára Jeníčková said today that the circumstances and cause of the fire are being investigated by criminal investigators in cooperation with the fire department.
The fire was reported to the operations center shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The fire affected part of the industrial hall. Due to the extent of the fire, the fire department declared the third level of fire alarm, which was later reduced to the second level. There were no injuries in the incident. Jeníčková added that five people were evacuated from the building.
According to Mayor Michael Canov (Mayors for the Liberec Region), one of the halls of the Grupo Antolin company, which produces polyurethane foam in Chrastava, was on fire. Due to the intervention, the police closed the adjacent street U Nisy.
It was not the first time that the firefighters went to the hall of Grupo Antolin, there was already a fire in the premises in February 2021, when the fire caused damages worth 100 million crowns.
