“We are announcing that we will begin accepting international flights at Damascus International Airport from Tuesday,” the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Saturday, citing Ashhad al-Salibi, head of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation and Air Transport of Syria.
According to data portal Flightradar24, at 13:00 Moscow time a plane from Doha of the Qatari airline Qatar Airways landed in Damascus.
Yesterday, a representative of the Syrian airline Cham Wings Airlines reported TASS that the carrier does not yet have a schedule for resuming regular flights between Moscow and Damascus.
The last airline to operate flights between Moscow and Damascus until December 8 was Syrian Air. The carrier suspended flights between Damascus and Moscow after opponents of President Bashar al-Assad’s ruling regime entered Damascus.
