Daniel Craig has not hidden this detachment from the franchise since his decision to leave it. In 2022, he explained to the BBC in particular that he did not regret his decision to stop playing Agent 007. “I’ve had an incredibly lucky 17 years of my life doing this. I literally want to spend the next 20 years trying to break away from it, because it was incredible. I left the character where I wanted him. And I was given the opportunity to do that with the last film.” he confided.
