Dane Morten Frendrup played a key role when Genoa played 2-2 against Cagliari in the Italian Serie A on Sunday on their own turf.
Genoa had fallen behind early in the game before the 23-year-old midfielder collected a loose ball in the box after 12 minutes and equalized with a confident inside pass.
Genoa had previously sent a long throw into the box which caused major problems for the Cagliari defence.
It was the former Brøndby player’s first score of the season.
However, the Dane’s goal was not enough for a victory.
After an hour of play, Genoa took the lead, but Cagliari were awarded a penalty in the final minutes, which was converted into the last goal of the game in the final.
With the distribution of points, Genoa and Cagliari each have 11 points after 13 games.
Patrick Dorgus Lecce, who have played a game less, are just two points below the relegation zone.
Morten Frendrup moved to Genoa from Brøndby in January 2022. Since then, he has played just over 100 games and scored a handful of goals for the Serie A club.
He made his debut in the A national team when he was substituted in the final minutes against Serbia in the Nations League in September.
Denmark won the match 2-0.
