Darius Olaru refused the captain’s armband at FCSB
The red-blue captain was sidelined due to an injury, and Adrian Șut was the team captain in his place. The midfielder was eliminated in the match with U Cluj and passed the armband to Risto Radunovic. When Darius Olaru entered the field, the Montenegrin footballer did not immediately give up the armband, the red-blues being focused on the end of the game which was quite heated, at the score of 2-1.
Immediately after the final whistle, Radunovic tried to give the armband back to Darius Olaru, but he categorically refused and left it to the Montenegrin. His gesture is incomprehensible, especially since he had nothing to share with Radunovic, and his team had won the game.
Raul Rusescu, about Darius Olaru’s unsportsmanlike moment: “The banner has gained importance”
The controversial moment captured at the end of the match was commented by the former striker of the red-blues. Raul Rusescu stated that the captain’s armband has become important again at FCSB and only representative and senior players wear it.
“Recently, the armband has started to gain importance again, the representative players wear it. Olaru, Șut, Radunovic are captains. Shot is not representative? We have Olaru, Șut, Radunnovic, Târnovanu and Tănase. The banderola began to gain importance again. A captain says he doesn’t need the armband for 3 minutes,” said Rusescu, la gsp.
Darius Olaru was injured and was absent from the last two matches of the red-blues. The captain of the Romanian champions did not play with Universitatea Craiova and Midtjylland, but he ticked off eight minutes with U Cluj and seems ready to return to the field in the remaining match with FC Botoșani next week.
FCSB came close to only six points from the leader U Cluj and has one game less. With a win in the remaining game against FC Botoșani, they would come close to only 3 points and climb to 2nd place in the championship.
