Daugavpils Futsal Championship starts this weekend

On January 4, the annual open city futsal championship will begin at the Daugavpils Olympic Center. 11 teams will take part in the tournament, and the competition will run until March 9.

This year, 11 teams will take part in the championship: “Sofia”, “Kalupe”, “Enkuri”, “Victory”, “Olimpija”, “Luxberry/Yoggi Bear”, “Daugavpils FS-1”, “Daugavpils FS-2” , “Daugavpils FS-3”, “FC SQE/Amber” and “PšFK Hektors”.

The tournament format includes a round-robin stage, where each team will play against each other. Based on the results of the group stage, the top eight teams will advance to the quarterfinals, the winners of which will advance to the semifinals. The teams that lost in the semi-finals will compete for third place, and the winners will meet in the final.

The matches will be held according to the rules of the Latvian Football Federation, and licensed referees will provide refereeing. Duration of the game is 2 halves of 25 minutes.

The winners of the tournament will receive trophies and medals, and the best players will be awarded special prizes highlighting their outstanding achievements and contributions to the sport.
